Baby Cassiana
Cassiana was born on June 22, 2009 at 9:16 PM. She weighed 6 lbs 11 1/2 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.
Baby Cassiana has rare congenital heart defects: Double Outlet Right Ventricle, Unbalanced AV Canal, Mitral Atresia, large ASD, and tricuspid valve regurgitation.
On June 26, 2009 baby Cassiana had her first heart surgery: pulmonary artery transection, tie off pulmonary valve, Blalack Taussing shunt to creat a new pulmonary blood flow and an attempt was made to repair her tricuspid valve. The surgeon did the best he could to repair the tricuspid valve and we will have to wait and see how successful it is. In a few months she will need heart surgery again.
On October 13th Cassiana had her second open-heart surgery.
